After a brilliant season until now, the french centre-back Dayot Upamecano has attracted Manchester United so far, but now Milan seems to be interested in him too. The 19-year-old is currently playing for the bundesliga-club RB Leipzig. For his age he is incredibly calm on the pitch, often forcing strikers to become desperate. He has made his way in to the Starting-11 of RB, who are currently hunting Bayern and Dortmund as they are in third place of the german Bundesliga. How ever, it’s always a gamble, to invest in very young players like him.
Upamecano learned to play football in Angers, then he decided to leave his boyhood-club and to join RB Salzburg, which you could consider as the farm-team of RB Leipzig. From Salzburg, during last winter, he has made his way into the Leipzig-side.
Although he has a great potential, he wouldn’t be a key signing, because we already have a good central defence with Bonucci, Musacchio and Romagnoli. And the transfer could get really expensive. Dayot has now signed a new contract with RedBull Leipzig, which could raise his buyout-clause up to 88mio. £ which probably would be a bit to much for a 19-year-old. He would improve the team with his class, but the players need to find together as a team, and that’s why a signing of him would not be the right choice. Let’s wait and see!
