Sinisa Mihajlovic has been sacked by Milan just 7 matches before the season ends. Primavera boss Cristian Brocchi has been chosen to replace him.
Many expected it to happen at the end of the season but the adventure of Sinisa Mihajlovic is already over, a bit over a month before the final credits of yet another disappointing season.
The ‘feeling’ between President Silvio Berlusconi and coach Mihajlovic has been lost since the 4-0 defeat to Napoli in October and after the 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Saturday, which came in a spell in which Milan collected just 2 points from 15, Berlusconi has decided to sack the Serb and appoint Brocchi.
“Sinisa Mihajlovic has been relieved of his role as AC Milan coach.,” a statement reads on Milan’s site on Tuesday afternoon, confirming the sack. “The club would like to thank Mihajlovic for the dedication and hard work carried out this season. Cristian Brocchi will now be in charge of the first team until the end of the season. AC Milan would like to welcome Mr. Brocchi and wish him all the best.
It’s reported in the press that Adriano Galliani had tried to stop Berlusconi from firing Mihajlovic before the end of the term but Silvio decided to go ahead with his decision and appoint Brocchi. The future of the current Primavera boss will depend on whether he’s successful in his 6 Serie A matches and one Coppa Italia final, which the Diavolo still have to play against Juve on May 21st.
Galliani and Miha met this morning and Sinisa was officially fired and he will take his staff with him. After Leonardo, Max Allegri, Clarence Seedorf and Filippo Inzaghi – Mihajlovic now pays the price.
