Manuel Locatelli would’ve played regularly if he was playing outside of Italy but he is perfectly fine at Milan, says his representative Stefano Castelnovo.

After Gianluigi Donnarumma found his way into the starting XI of Milan last season, this year coach Vincenzo Montella is giving more and more chances to Davide Calabria and Manuel Locatelli.

In the last matchday against Sassuolo, Locatelli proved instrumental in the comeback and also scored a fantastic goal in the 4-3 win. With Riccardo Montolivo now injured, Loca is expected to get even more minutes, although Sosa is currently favourite over him to play Chievo.

“Manuel is a very balanced boy who knows not to get too excited when you do well and knows not to fall down when you don’t do well,” Stefano Castelnovo, the agent of Locatelli, told Tuttomercatoweb on Thursday. “I’ve known him since he was a kid? After five minutes I could tell that he was something.

“Manuel has already renewed with Milan until 2020. His idols? Pirlo and Totti, they are the idols and of course it’s clear that he hopes to one day get to that level. If his explosion was unexpected? Honestly, I expected it. If he played abroad then he would’ve been permanently in the first team.

“Here [in Italy] it’s thought that we shouldn’t ‘burn’ the boys, abroad they have more courage. But there’s no problem and we’re happy with the experience of Manuel at Milan. What I’m going through now? Today, suddenly, everyone is talking about Locatelli. My profile and that of my family is low and we go on like this. I’m a very private guy and I’m not interested in the limelight.

“The same goes for the profile of Manuel. I don’t think that it will change… if one is so by nature then I don’t think he can become the opposite of what he is.”
