On the 24th of August, 2017, at 20:45 Italian time, AC Milan will take on Macedonian Side KF Shkëndija for the second leg of their Europa League qualifyiers. If Milan can avoid a 7-0 loss, they are into the Europa League group stages
Great news for Milanisti, as the Europa League group stage is just one step away, with their upcoming match against minnows, FK Shkëndija, acting as a formality, a warmup, for the much-awaited European nights; That is, if Milan avoid a 7-0 loss, after having beaten the Macedonian side 6-0 at the San Siro, without any problems.
The home leg at the San Siro was a clear demonstration of Milan’s willingness to play in Europe, and hunger to score more, with 6 in the favor of the Rossoneri, whereas in previous seasons they might’ve stopped at 1,2 or 3.
A collector’s item, as Milan’s long time servant and ex-captain Riccardo Montolivo, scored not one, but two goals, the second of which a well timed finish. Montolivo’s last goal came in the 2013-14 season. Luca Antonelli, André Silva (x2) and Fabio Borini also got on the scoresheet, helping Montella’s men to a comfortable final result
As for the upcoming match a big performance is expected from Milan, to show that they are not a complacent side anymore. Jack Bonaventura is out due to fitness reasons, and M’Baye Niang has handed in a medical document claiming he is stressed and therefore won’t play or train.
However, Romagnoli will finally be back in the side, but bad news for Milanisti as reported by various sources, including footbal-italia.net, is that Gigio Donnarumma and Hakan Çalhanoğlu will be left at home, with Donnarumma’s brother, Antonio, likely to start in goal.
Milan will travel to Macedonia, and play at Shkëndija’s home pitch, the Ecolog Arena, with a capacity of 15,000.
