Cristian Brocchi has been picked by Silvio Berlusconi who is giving him 7 matches to do better than Mihajlovic.
There were signs of hopes this season for Milan with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic bringing a breath of fresh air but Silvio Berlusconi has again decided to fire a manager he can’t get along with and is set to promote current Primavera boss and ex-midfielder Cristian Brocchi.
Almost everyone expected Miha to leave at the end of the season but ‘il Presidente’, after the defeat to Juventus, has decided to put a stop to the Sinisa-era at Milan just 7 matches before the summer break and bring up Brocchi who’s leading the Group B Primavera table.
It’s been reported for a while now that Brocchi is Berlusconi’s favourite option for next season, while Adriano Galliani wants Marcello Lippi and Arrigo Sacchi has advised them to either keep Mihajlovic or get Sassuolo’s Eusebio Di Francesco. But as it turns out, Silvio has decided this is the right timing.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning, there were two meetings between Galliani, Berlusconi and Brocchi at Arcore – on Sunday night and last night. Miahjlovic has already been informed that he’s been fired and the 40-year-old Brocchi will lead today’s training session at 15:00.
Sky’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Brocchi is all set to sign a contract until the end of the season and then if he convinces Berlusconi then he will stay for next year. A while ago GdS suggested that Brocchi is Berlusconi’s favourite choice because of his attacking style which uses a trequartista and his experience working with young (and Italian) players which is what Milan plan on doing.
Brocchi would be the Rossoneri’s 6th coach since Carlo Ancelotti left the club in 2009.
